On January 30, 2026, TU Dresden celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Deutschlandstipendium with around 300 guests from university and industry. The event honored a decade and a half of successful support of talented students and reached a new high with 376 scholarships awarded. A highlight was the presentation of certificates to the scholarship holders of the GEMEINSAM+15 fundraising campaign, under the patronage of Rector Prof. Dr. Ursula Staudinger. Personal greetings, a journey through the highlights of the program, musical contributions and a get-together with food and drink rounded off the evening. The scholarship ceremony for the 2025/26 funding year once again proved that academic excellence and social commitment can go hand in hand. We would like to thank everyone involved and look forward to another successful scholarship year!

For the 15th anniversary of the Deutschlandstipendium, we had a big goal: 15 scholarships, 15 opportunities for the future. To achieve this, we needed a total of 27,000 euros by the winter semester 2025/26 to enable 15 students to study with a tailwind with an anniversary scholarship.

TU Dresden students work every day to successfully complete their studies and actively contribute to society. In addition to their demanding studies, financial bottlenecks are often a reason for uncertainty. Support with a scholarship gives them the chance to concentrate fully on their education and commitment - without financial worries.

We are delighted and proud to report that we have achieved our goal!

In the first fundraising campaign Gemeinsam+15, TU Dresden alumni initially contributed half of the required amount and in the second fundraising campaign Stips4Stips, current and former Deutschlandstipendium scholarship holders, together with the support of a private matching sponsor, filled the other half of the sum.

Many of our scholarship holders and alumni have been showing us for years through their numerous and generous donations that support for the Deutschlandstipendium is not just a one-way street. They give something back and help to ensure that other students can also receive funding. We are very grateful for that.

On April 14, 2025, the Market of Opportunities opened its doors in the Dülfer Hall - and offered numerous scholarship holders and interested students an extraordinary chance to meet the sponsors of the Deutschlandstipendium. As an interface between studying and the world of work, this event provided an afternoon full of new impulses, interesting discussions and career perspectives. Anyone looking for internships, working student positions or a career start was able to make valuable contacts here.

Dresden, January 28, 2025 – With 352 scholarships awarded, TUD Dresden University of Technology reached a new record in the 2024/2025 academic year as part of the Deutschlandstipendium. Thanks to the commitment of 116 sponsors and organizations, the university was able to support even more talented and committed students than ever before.

Every year, TU Dresden awards the Deutschlandstipendium to its outstanding students, who are selected based on their academic performance, their commitment and the conditions under which they are able to complete their studies. They receive EUR 300 per month for one year, as well as a great network of committed students and sponsors. Half of the scholarship amount is covered by the federal government. The remaining amount is made up of donations from companies, associations, foundations and private individuals who are willing to invest EUR 1,800 per year in supporting young, outstanding talents at TU Dresden.

“Our high number of scholarships impressively demonstrates how valuable our partnerships with companies, associations and foundations are, as well as the close ties we have with our alumni who also contribute to the success of the Deutschlandstipendium. We are working together to support young talent and offer them important freedom for their development,” emphasizes Prof. Ursula Staudinger, Rector of TU Dresden.

Sustainable support and new impulses

In addition to the record number of scholarships, the 14^th year of funding also saw an expansion of the funding program in terms of content. With the new Elektro-Start-Deutschlandstipendium (Electrical Engineering Start-Deutschlandstipendium Scholarship), which was made possible by four companies, 27 first-year students in the field of electrical engineering were supported in a targeted manner for the first time. The fundraising campaign GEMEINSAM+15, which was launched for the upcoming funding year and in which alumni and associate members of TU Dresden want to jointly provide fifteen scholarships to mark the 15^th anniversary of this funding program, also illustrates the special community spirit of the Deutschlandstipendium.

Appreciation in a festive setting

TU Dresden recently brought the scholarship recipients and their sponsors together with other guests at a festive event to mark the beginning of the new funding year. The focus was on personal success stories, inspiring speeches and musical performances. In particular, the life story of Prof. Bärbel Bergmann-Matern, who shared her experiences “From Refugee Child to University Professor”, provided impressive insights.

TU Dresden organized the fourth round of the Stips4Stips Matching Challenge in 2024. Current and former scholarship holders were asked to donate in order to create 6 additional scholarships by doubling the amount donated by our partners, the law firm POELLATH+, STH Stahlverarbeitung Hoffmann GmbH and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The donation target for this was 5,400 euros, which was exceeded with 6,632.21 euros, which allowed for 7 new scholarships to be awarded.

On May 28, 2024, the time had finally come: the Market of Opportunities opened its doors in the Festsaal Dülferstraße at the TU Dresden. From 2:30 to 6:00 pm, scholarship holders and students had the opportunity to meet sponsors of the Deutschlandstipendium and make valuable professional contacts.

Networking - a market full of opportunities

Networking was at the heart of the event. Students were able to talk to representatives from various companies in a relaxed atmosphere. Whether questions about everyday working life, career paths or entry opportunities - visitors received informative insights directly from the professionals. At the Career Service stand, participants were able to have their application portfolios professionally checked, which significantly increased their chances of taking the next step in their career.
The pitch rounds were another highlight. The companies presented themselves in short, concise pitches and showed their many facets. The event also offered the chance to win one of four Kindle e-readers, sponsored by the Amazon Development Center Germany.

On April 16, 2024, the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship ceremony took place at the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) to honor the outstanding achievements of the students and to recognize the sponsors' commitment to supporting special talents and academic excellence.

In the formal part of the event, six courageous scholarship holders competed against each other in an inspiring science slam. The two Detuschlandstipendium holders Jana Skrobanek (Biology in Society) and Lisa Marie Lehmann (Physics) won the competition against their fellow competitors and each received a book voucher worth 150 euros from the Gesellschaft von Freunden und Förderern der TU Dresden e. V. (Association of Friends and Supporters of TU Dresden).

At the subsequent get-together, the scholarship holders got to know their sponsors in a relaxed atmosphere. Further entertainment was provided by a tricky science quiz and an exhibition of axolotls, which are being researched at the CRTD thanks to their fascinating self-healing powers.

The Deutschlandstipendium Get Together, the (first) opportunity for scholarship holders and sponsors to get to know each other, started right on time at 4:30 pm. Connected from all parts of Germany and some countries around the world, we were able to listen to Dr. Dominik Koll's exciting keynote speech on the "exploding Christmas star" with almost 200 participants. What you couldn't see on the screen: the office was also decorated to match the event's theme (Instagram: tud.dstip). Afterwards, our scholarship holders met their sponsors in virtual rooms to get to know each other personally and perhaps arrange the next joint meeting. Click here for the website.

Last week, TU Dresden officially started the 2023/24 scholarship year of the Deutschlandstipendium off with a kick-off event.

We welcomed our scholarship holders and new sponsors and gave a first insight into the program. Following, the special achievements of the students were recognized by awarding them with their certificates. Our working groups also presented themselves, which are continuously joined by new members every year to keep them going. They help to foster a good exchange between the scholarship holders. Afterwards, all participants were able to help themselves to the delicious buffet and get to know each other.
